TACKLE YOUR TBR READ-A-THON - RANDOM PAGE CHAALLENGE

Today is my challenge!  I did this challenge last year and it was a lot of fun.  So here we go....

My Challenge is: Random Page Challenge

Pick a random page of the book you are currently reading

and share it with us in the comments below, without giving

anything away about the book :).

------------------------------------------------------

My random page is from a book called THE BOY MEETS GIRL MASSACRE - The page is (this is Kindle so I don't know if it would be the same page in the book) Page 147:

I sat down and he started talking.  While he talked I pushed my legs together and imagined if they were fused.  "Look Noelle, I know why you wouldn't want to tell me.  You don't wanna add to my stress.  I get it.  It's sweet.  But listen, honey, it's not your job to protect daddy.  It's your daddy's job to protect you.  I'm here for you, okay?  I know it doesn't always seem that way.  I know I haven't been a great dad.  I know that.  I've done my best.  You don't know what it's been like for me, sick the way I am, having to watch you do everything for your old dad, walking to Ollie's all the time to get my chicken, helping me keep clean.  I love you so much, Noelle.  I love you so much it hurts.  And I've had to watch as I ruin your life.  Do you know how that feels?  I'm ruining your life and I can't stop!"

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Now, it's your turn!!!

This year as part of my challenge I am also doing a giveaway.  I am giving away two signed copies of  DRAWN IN by Sioux Trett.  You can read my review here.  It's a fun read.

  2. From "Hiding Places" by Erin Healy, p. 58: "The Fox calmed himself. He drew long, steadying breaths until the approaching sirens were all but silent in his own ears, though they drew closer and closer. His eyes burned, but he centered himself by calling up a picture of his son in his mind. Coz was the reason he must not get angry right now. Time for that later."

His rules were like the tide -- constantly shifting. Ash suspected he sometimes made them up at the moment of her supposed infraction." Fun challenge!!

  10. This is from Marrying Christopher by Michelle Page Holmes it is page 43 on my ereader.

    Enjoy! :)

“I have been walking for over two hours,” Miss Abbott said. “On brick and cobblestone roads in worn slippers not meant to traverse great distances. I assure you, under normal circumstances my feet and legs move quite well. As for the other— infirmity— you speak of.” She untied the strings of her cloak, removed it, and set it on top of the bundle she’d dropped earlier. She turned away from the captain, revealing a knotted shawl bunched at the base of her neck.
“My journey here was somewhat perilous; this disguise allowed me to make it safely. It seems no one wants to bother with an old, deformed woman.” She turned to face him once more.
Christopher smiled to himself and wished he might applaud Miss Abbott’s ruse. It reminded him very much of something Grace might have done in days not long ago, when her situation was perilous as well.
Miss Abbott’s must be very grave indeed, he thought, noting the sack that lay at her feet. He’d brought little with him, but his possessions seemed extravagant compared to what little Miss Abbott owned.

  11. Page 72 of None Of the Above, by, I.W. Gregorio:

    "Dad?" I said.
He opened his mouth to say something, then closed his eyes.
    "You don't have a cervix."
    "Huh?"
He pointed to the diagram with a trembling finger, and I looked closer. No uterus. No cervix.
I was never going to die of cervical cancer like my mom.
And that's when I started to cry.

*bawls* Amazing book, I started and finished it today. Great challenge!!

The Richest Man in Babylon — Six Laws of Wealth by Charles Conrad

First, I resolved not to take on any additional debt. Gone were the days of borrowing today to enjoy goods that I would have to pay for-- plus interest-- tomorrow.

Second, instead of spending all of my income each month on food, clothing, housing, entertainment, and so on, I resolved to spend no more than seven-tenths of my income. I would save and invest one-tenth, in accordance with the First Law. And the remaining two-tenths would go towards paying down my debts.

Granted, this isn't a fiction book, so the entry probably doesn't seem exciting. But this IS the book that I read and reviewed on my blog today for the #TackleTBR.

pg 10. We have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson
"I wished they were all dead and I was walking on their bodies. They rarely spoke directly to me, but only to each other. 'That's one of the Blackwood girls.' I heard one of them say in a high mocking voice, 'one of the Blackwood girls from Blackwood Farm.' 'Too bad about the Blackwoods,' someone else said, just loud enough, 'too bad about those poor girls.' 'Nice farm out there,' they said, 'nice land to farm. Man could get rich, farming those Blackwood land. If he had a million years and three heads, and didn't care what he grew, a man could get rich. Keep their land pretty well locked up, the Blackwoods do.' "

  15. 21% of Judgement Day by Andrew Neiderman:

"Tom Beardsly flipped the page of his pocket notepad. He loosened the top button of his shirt and then his tie. Why wasn't Milton as hot as he was? The vehicle was stifling. This was proving to be one of the hottest springs on record in New York City. Skyscrapers looked as if they were melting. Streets looked like stovetops. The combined sweat evaporating from uncomfortable pedestrians could cause a change in the window. At least open a window, he thought.

She wasn't sure she would be all right ever again but, but she said, "Yes. Of course."

  21. Mine from "One Man, No Plan" by M T McGuire Ch 13

After a very short time strapped to the table, alone, The Pan heard the sound of approaching footsteps again; running. The door was flung open and the two guards burst into the cell.
"Wotcher..." said The Pan, except that, because of the drugs, what came out was more along the lines of "glrraub."
