MUST LOVE OTTERS TOUR & REVIEW

Welcome to my tour stop for Must Love Otters by Eliza Gordon.  This is an adult romantic comedy and  the tour runs February 24th- March 7th and will consist of reviews, guest posts, interviews and more. You can find the full schedule on the tour page.

Must Love Otters by Eliza Gordon

Hollie Porter is the chairwoman of Generation Disillusioned: at twenty-five years old, she’s saddled with a job she hates, a boyfriend who’s all wrong for her, and a vexing inability to say no. She’s already near her breaking point, so when one caller too many kicks the bucket during Hollie’s 911 shift, she cashes in the Sweethearts’ Spa & Stay gift certificate from her dad and heads to Revelation Cove, British Columbia. One caveat: she’s going solo. Any sweethearts will have to be found on site.

Hollie hopes to find her beloved otters in the wilds of the Great White North, but instead she’s providing comic relief for staff and guests alike. Even Concierge Ryan, a former NHL star with bad knees and broken dreams, can’t stop her from stumbling from one (mis)adventure to another. Just when Hollie starts to think that a change of venue doesn’t mean a change in circumstances, the island works its charm and she starts to think she might have found the rejuvenation she so desperately desires. But then an uninvited guest crashes the party, forcing her to step out of the discomfort zone where she dwells and save the day … and maybe even herself in the process.

My Review / Thoughts:

This is a very hard book for me to review.  It's very different than the books I have reviewed so far.  I have to admit I LOVED this book.  BUT, it has a lot of sex, sex talk, and language.  The description and the reviews I had read made me want to read this book so bad.  When the opportunity came up to review, I jumped at it.  I did not realize how much sex and language would be in it.  I can't help it though.  It is such a great story.  I loved it.  Just loved it.

Hollie's character is not my most favorite.  She is such a whiner, but her story is fabulous.  I love how it feels like she is talking to "me" the whole time.  It's so fun.  She was so funny.  She is what I would consider mostly an airhead with a tad of normal.  Her story had me laughing out loud a lot of times.  I could totally see the stupid choices she was making and want to slap her, but it did make for a fabulous story.  Her boyfriend Keith is, man I don't even know how to put it nicely.  He is a jerk.  I dislike him.  Completely.

Hollie's job as a 911 operator would be so hard.  I don't think it is something I could do.  Her feelings about her co workers, and the things she says about them, just made me laugh.

I am IN LOVE with the Revolution Cove.  Yes, I realize it's a book, but the descriptions in this book are so amazing I felt like I was there.  The beauty of the author's writing put me right into the "scene".

Concierge Ryan is my favorite from the moment he enters the book.  I love love love him.  He is funny,
he is handsome, he is interesting, and just plain fabulous.  Every time he opens his mouth I couldn't help but laugh out loud.  There was a lot of that while I was reading this book.  It is so hilarious.

The love story is SO SO SO amazing.  It's perfect, and by perfect, I mean the characters were totally themselves, and went together so well, yet were their own person still.  Such a great love story.  It's funny, sexy, and intense.

This is definitely, definitely and ADULT BOOK, but man, it was so funny.  I laughed out loud so many times while reading this book.  It made me cry, it was just so full of emotion.

Content:  Language..lots of it.  Lots of sexual talk and sex it's self.
Source:  I received this book as part of a stop on a tour.  I was not compensated in anyway for this review.  These are my own PERSONAL thoughts on the book.

My Rating:

(totally would have been a 5 but I just can't when there is so much language)

  1. I laughed so many times while reading this one I couldn't help it either. I really liked Holly though, she was crazy, but in a good way.

    1. She was so crazy! She cracked me up. She reminded me a lot of a teenager with her choices though..hehehe! She was so irrational sometimes. It made for a lot of funny situations!

  2. Really, lots of sex? I only remember one scene and it fades out without any description. There is a lot of 'talk' though. I know it's not too bad (IMO) because I told my mom and sisters to read as soon as I finished. Trust me, it had to be pretty clean for me to do that.(They are SUPER religious and don't have TV, listen to music, etc.) I think that it depends on what we are use to reading. I don't particularly like much sex or talk of it in my books, so it's interesting that we feel so different about that aspect.
Anyway, it doesn't matter. I'm just glad that you still enjoyed the book a lot. I really loved Ryan too and felt like it was super romantic. And the setting was PERFECT! Loved!
Thanks for hosting a tour stop!

    1. I may be hyper sensitive because my 17 yr old reads what I read, and I would not let her read this book yet. I did love this book though! I laughed so hard I almost cried a few time!

    2. I think having a teenager kind of makes you more sensitive to it, for sure! I think I've gotten more relaxed about it, which is weird since my daughter is getting older. She's only 9 though, so she's not yet thinking about reading what I read. When she's older I'll probably be more sensitive about it.
