Amy Lignor Book Tour & Review

Get to know Tallent and Lowery, their journey,
and the author that is writing their story!

The Hero's Companion

Leah Tallent and Gareth Lowery have seen it all, utilizing everything they have to survive. But now, Leah’s father has gone missing and they have only seven days before he’ll be killed. The only clue to follow is a picture of one of the most famous icons of all time, and a strange map hidden in her father’s desk. This new mystery will take them from the pinnacle of the Acropolis to the depths of Cleopatra’s caves in order to unmask the man who has a score to settle.

In a location that’s been buried under rock for centuries the battle will begin, and the team will have to face the one foe that will expose secrets and unleash unheard of power in order to get what he wants. ‘The Hero’s Companion’—the one woman who will do anything to make sure the right side wins, will fight the good fight; but without Gareth, her time may just run out.

The Sapphire Storm (Tallent & Lowery, #2)
The Sapphire Storm

After going up against a man who believed he was the Devil, himself, the beloved characters of Leah Tallent and Gareth Lowery are exhausted. But a terrifying journey awaits…

When Leah arrives home her sarcasm burns even brighter, but a frightening call from Gareth’s sister changes the course of their holiday event. A new puzzle from the past has come to life, and involves a world of liars, killers and greed.

The heart-stopping suspense takes them from Coptic Cairo to the magical world of Petra in search of a cave that once housed a true ‘Illuminator’. They must find the answers to one of the biggest mysteries while staying one step ahead of villains who are determined to make sure that, this time, Tallent & Lowery do not survive.

There are two choices for Book I of the Tallent & Lowery adventure series to be released by Suspense Publishing on December 1st! Here's the 'Vibrant' choice!13

In 1902, thirteen people came together to continue a tradition that’d been set in stone thousands of years before.

In 2012, Leah Tallent, Head of Research at the New York Public Library, is about to unearth the secrets left behind by this crew by joining a crazy man on a fanatical quest. Gareth Lowery has spent his life searching for the ultimate artifact; twelve keys hidden by men whose job it was to protect the single biggest secret ever kept.

The fantastic duo is soon immersed in a whirlwind treasure hunt with historical and passionate repercussions. From the eerie Winchester House to the darkness of Loch Ness, they quickly learn that the theory of duality is correct: For every bad there is a good and, for Heaven, there most assuredly exists...Hell.

Tallent & Lowery: The Modern-Day Bennet & Darcy

Jane Austen is regarded as THE superior artist when it came to creating a romance that simply never died. Still, to this day, all ages see the most romantic couple of all time being Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy from Pride & Prejudice.

When it came to creating ‘Tallent & Lowery’, I longed to present a couple who readers would route for; yet, combine the romantic factor with the action of ‘Indiana Jones’, enveloped in a mystery that made it impossible for even the most hardcore addicts of suspense to deduce the next surprise waiting around the corner.

This duo’s love is NOT carved in stone at the beginning; in fact, upon first meeting him, Leah wants nothing more than to call the cops when she walks in on something criminal he’s doing at her beloved library. I didn’t want the furtive glance, or the heat flowing on contact; I wanted to create a passion that neither of them assumed they even owned, so that they would have to use this emotion in order to get over their own vices and discover that they were a lot more alike than they first thought.

Leah Tallent, the Head Librarian of Research at the NYPL, is a woman who seems more than a bit sarcastic, except her wit, which is hysterical, is simply a veil to keep people at bay. Unlike Austen’s heroine, Leah is wealthy, yet wants nothing to do with that wealth. She moved away from her home in CT to the City in order to just disappear with her books. She’s a loner, and has no interest in a fancy car or landing a marriage. In fact, she wants to stay away from marriage as long as possible.

Her similarities to Elizabeth Bennet are many, though. She says what she feels; she stands on her own two feet; and her mind is that of a card catalogue. She knows all these pieces of information that others wouldn’t know; all filed away in an extraordinary mind that no one is allowed to see – unless they’re on the end of a barb she’s thrown.

Gareth Lowery is unlike the beloved Mr. Darcy. Although he is strong, large, and can shut someone up with a look; he uses his charm in order to get what he wants. The quality he lacks, however, is the ability to charm Leah. He is wealthy, but Gareth hides behind his own veil of shyness, determination, and a longing no one would guess he has. And as the story progresses, you can see that this couple is beyond confused that their well-built walls are falling as fast as they try to build them back up.

I love writing ‘Tallent & Lowery,’ not only because of the extraordinary puzzles that I get to research and weave together to lead readers on a mystery each time out by combining strange (yet real) locations and infamous people from the past; but also because I love delving into the dialogue and emotions between Leah and Gareth. Yes, they take verbal swings at each other, learning which buttons to push and attempting to learn each other’s characters. With each mystery, however, they open up even more. I am so ecstatic when readers tell me that they were shocked or amazed to learn ‘such and such’ about Leah’s past or Gareth’s motives. It means that I’ve done my job. And with four left in the series, I hope to continue the surprises.

Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy will always be my favorite romantic couple, but when it comes to a couple that shares that kind of passion and must rely on each other’s minds and strength to survive extremely frightening experiences, then Leah & Gareth are the ones who fill my mind. I may be prejudiced…but they are a couple who definitely, as a author, fill me with pride.

Until Next Time, Everybody,

Amy

My Review / Thoughts on 13

This is such a great story of adventure, and treasure hunting.  I love the relationship between Tallent and Lowery.  It is funny at times, and frustrating at others.  I enjoyed the story.  I was blown away a few times when Leah would "blink" and be in the middle of the "past" and seeing what was happening.  When Tallent "blinks" and is in the room with Jack the Ripper, I was terrified.  It's just a book...but the author did an amazing job of putting you "in" the book.

I like how Leah and Gareth's relationship grows during this book.  Gareth is on a quest to find the 13 artifacts.  Leah who doesn't believe in God or heaven ends up helping Gareth in his journey to find the artifacts, and prove that there is indeed a Heaven and a Hell.

When Leah witnesses some of the worst things that have happened in the past, she comes to realize that there in fact has to be a Heaven.  She finds out that there cannot be good without evil.  It is such a great story.  I cannot wait to see where the rest of the series takes me.  The author did an amazing job in writing this book.  I was on the edge of my seat a lot of the time.  I had some vivid dreams while reading this book...and some of them are things you would never want to dream about!  Scary stuff.  That just shows me how good the author was.  The book make me think even subconsciously.
