Description:
Now that Nikki has rescued Jack, all she wants is to be with him and graduate high school. But Cole tricked Nikki into feeding off him, and she’s begun the process of turning into an Everliving herself... which means she must feed on a Forfeit soon — or die.
Terrified for her survival, Nikki and Jack begin a desperate attempt to reverse the process using any means possible. Even Cole, who they expected to fight them at every turn, has become an unlikely ally — but how long can it last? Nikki needs to feed on Cole to survive, Cole needs Nikki to gain the throne in the Everneath, Jack needs Nikki because she is everything to him — and together, they must travel back to the Underworld to undo Nikki’s fate and make her mortal once more. But Cole isn’t the only one with plans for Nikki: the Queen has not forgotten Nikki’s treachery, and she wants her destroyed for good. Will Nikki be forced to spend eternity in the Underworld, or does she have what it takes to bring down the Everneath once and for all?
In this stunning conclusion to the Everneath trilogy, Brodi Ashton evokes the resiliency of the human spirit and the indomitable power of true love.
My Review / Thoughts:
First I have to say a HUGE thank you to Jen at YA Romantics for her awesome "Hot Of The Presses" post yesterday. I had Evertrue on my calendar for release next month, so when I saw her post I bought the book right then. I have been dying to finish this awesome trilogy!
I loved the first two books in this series, and was seriously hoping that the third one would be just as good. I get so nervous when the conclusion of a series comes out, because I want them to end the way "I" want them to. Some series I have read end horribly, and it kind of ruins the series as a whole for me. I am so happy to say that this book did NOT disappoint. It was so fantastic.
When I am reading a book that has a love triangle I always end up going for the guy that they never pick. It's kind of a bummer..but hey, maybe I just like the "underdog". Well, in this series I never wanted her with Cole. Ever. I didn't like him from the beginning. His character comes to life for me in this book though. In the other books he was just plain evil in my opinion. In this book, he kept me guessing about whether or not he really changes or if it is all an elaborate scheme to get Nikki to yet again, do what he wants.
I love Nikki and Jack. They are just such a great couple. Nothing has been easy for them in their relationship, yet they still fight to be together. True love.
This book was so intense for me. I couldn't put it down. It's the ultimate showdown between Nikki and Everneath. Nikki and Jack are determined to get Nikki's heart and life back. Cole has other plans, he steal Nikki's heart and hides it from her so that he can keep her close to him. Cole knows that Nikki has to have him in her life to feed off of to stay alive.
When Nikki misses a feeding, and they cannot find Cole, I was sure he had done it on purpose. When they finally find him and he seems to have "amnesia" it was hard for me to trust him. I like "amnesia" Cole so much more :).
While Nikki's shackles get darker they realize that their scheme to destroy Everneath has to happen sooner than later. It gets intense. They travel between Everneath and Earth as they determine the best way to destroy Everneath. Just when you think Cole has betrayed them yet again, something new comes to light.
There are just so many twists and turns to this book. Ever time I thought Cole had gotten Nikki right where he wanted her, something happens to show he was actually helping. So, like I said before Cole kind of came to life for me in this book. I don't want to give to much away, but I end up "kind of" liking him. Only kind of though....hehe. To me he had done too much to fully redeem himself in my eyes, but he was an AWESOME bad guy.
There seems to be something happening to Nikki at all times, so she and Jack never seem to have moments of peace. It makes for an exciting ride.
The end of the book is fantastic. This trilogy ended so well, and I am so glad.
If you liked the first two books in this series, you will love Evertrue.

Because of two parents who were Greek myth geeks, I grew up thinking the latest fashion trends were inspired by Aphrodite, and a good conversational opener was, “So, which mythological character do you most resemble?” Despite these social shortcomings, I found a great husband who’s always my first reader. We live in Utah with our two young boys, who still have no idea why I'm at the computer all the time.
I received a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of Utah and a Master’s degree in International Relations from the London School of Economics.
I am so happy to read this review because I have loved this trilogy as well! I have only read the first book and then the novellas but I was trying to be patient and wait to start the second book until this one was out but I always get nervous with lat book. You just never know how they are going to end!!
ReplyDeleteI am excited to start this one now! I just need to make the time for them.
I know...right! I love love love when books end the way I want them to! Makes me love them even more :)
DeleteI still need to read the second book. I had it from the library, but didn't get to it before I had to return it. I'm planning on reading that and this one in a row and then reviewing them together. I'm so glad that the series ended well!! It can really ruin a series for me when I don't like the last book.
ReplyDeleteI am the same way Tressa. If the series ends bad, then it totally ruins the whole series for me...there have been a few of those lately for me. Of course I like things tied up in a pretty little bow ;)
