DESCRIPTION:

On the evening of Sofia Claremont's seventeenth birthday, she is sucked into a nightmare from which she cannot wake. A quiet evening walk along a beach brings her face to face with a dangerous pale creature that craves much more than her blood.
She is kidnapped to The Shade, an island where the sun is eternally forbidden to shine. An island uncharted by any map and ruled by the most powerful vampire coven on the planet. She wakes here as a slave, a captive in chains.
Sofia's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn when she is selected out of hundreds of girls to take up residence in the tree-top harem of Derek Novak, the dark royal prince.
Despite his addiction to power and obsessive thirst for her blood, Sofia soon realizes that the safest place on the island is within his quarters, and she must do all within her power to win him over if she is to survive even one more night.
Will she succeed? Or is she destined to the same fate that all other girls have met at the hands of the Novaks?

MY REVIEW / THOUGHTS:
I have been seeing this series around and had been told to read it by a few people, so I finally broke down and bought some of them.  I have to admit the books totally sucked me in.  I am a sucker for vampire books.
Sofia is kidnapped on her 17th birthday.  When she awakes and realizes she is being held prisoner by something evil, Sofia decides she must do whatever it takes to stay alive.
Sofia is meant to be part of the newly awakened Derek Novak's harem .  She has been told that the only way she will be able to remain alive is to convince Derek that he loves her.
Derek seems to have an immediate attraction to Sofia, and as time goes by Sofia seems to be developing feelings for Derek.  She just cannot decide if what she is feeling is real or just survival.
If you like vampire books then you will like this one.  It's a quick and fun read.  There is just something about vampires that automatically draws me in.  They are intriguing.  I really enjoy the narrators of these books as well.  Yes, I say narrators.  There are multiple narrators which makes it more interesting.  In my opinion.
I was completely drawn in and finished the first 9 books in no time.
Source: I bought this audio book for myself.  I was not compensated in any way for this book.  These are my own PERSONAL thoughts on the book.

  1. Yes, this book has made the rounds, and I still havent' tried it. I went through a big vampire burn out phase and I am just getting to where I can tolerate them again, so maybe I will try this.

  2. I see this series everywhere and I know I read the first book but I don't remember being in love with it. I really should try it again I guess. I think there are like 24 books out now or some crazy number like that.
