Description:
Rapunzel’s tower is a satellite. She can’t let down her hair—or her guard.

In this third book in the bestselling Lunar Chronicles series, Cinder and Captain Thorne are fugitives on the run, with Scarlet and Wolf in tow. Together, they’re plotting to overthrow Queen Levana and her army.

Their best hope lies with Cress, who has been trapped on a satellite since childhood with only her netscreens as company. All that screen time has made Cress an excellent hacker—unfortunately, she’s just received orders from Levana to track down Cinder and her handsome accomplice.

When a daring rescue goes awry, the group is separated. Cress finally has her freedom, but it comes at a high price. Meanwhile, Queen Levana will let nothing stop her marriage to Emperor Kai. Cress, Scarlet, and Cinder may not have signed up to save the world, but they may be the only ones who can.

My Review / Thoughts:

I keep thinking that this series cannot get any better, but it does.  I LOVE this series.  It is so much fun, and so exciting.

In this book we are introduced to Cress (Repunzel).  She is kind of a crack up.   She has been stuck in a satellite since childhood, and doesn't really know how to interact with other people.  When she is rescued by Thorne and Cinder, she thinks her life will get better.  Soon they end up on a whole new journey.

The group gets separated, and as they try to find each other the world around is still in chaos.  Levana is determined to make the marriage go through with Prince Kai, and Cinder is determined to make sure it doesn't happen.

I love all the twists and turns, and all the excitement of this book.  It's so much fun.  I think I have said this before but I will say it again, this is the best re-telling of fairy tales I have read in a very long time.  It is such a different take on fairy tales.  Who would have thought that a futuristic fairy tale would be so fantastic.  It is though.  I cannot get over how well these stories are told.  Meyer, has such a beautiful way of telling a story.  Bringing fairy tale characters to life in a whole new way.  It is so much fun.

This book kept me turning pages all night.  Cinder is still by far my favorite character, and thankfully Prince Kai redeemed himself in this book.  I really wanted to like him, but it was hard to when he didn't stand up for Cinder like I thought he should.

Thorne and Wolf are so fantastic.  They make me laugh, and are just fun to read.  Cress still seems a little too naive for me, but I didn't expect much from her because she had been locked up for most of her life.  I hope she plays a larger role in the next book.

I still hate Levana.  She's the devil.  I cannot wait until they take her down.  I hope it's in a dramatic and fantastic way.  That would be the icing on the cake for this series :).

I love the characters.  I cannot say it enough good things about this book..  It's so much fun.

I cannot wait for the next book.  I am going to have to wait way too long, but I know it will be worth it.

About the Author:

Marissa Meyer

I live in Tacoma, Washington, with my fiancé and our two cats. In addition to my slight obsession with books and writing, I'm big on road-tripping, wine-tasting, and hunting for antiques. I'm represented by Jill Grinberg.

CINDER, my debut novel, is a futuristic re-envisioning of Cinderella in which Cinder is a cyborg mechanic.

  1. I have the worst luck with retellings, this series included, unfortunately. I tried very, very hard to like Cinder, but I found it predictable and not interesting at all. Still, I'm well aware that I'm in the minority here, and I'm always happy to see my friends enjoying these.
    Great review!

  3. I'm so glad you loved it! I loved it too so much and am dying for that fourth book. Although, I have decided that if waiting means the quality will be just as good as the other books that I'm okay waiting. :)
